Report: Newcastle among clubs to have expressed interest in Spurs man

The Daily Mail have reported Newcastle United are among the clubs to have expressed an interest in Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp this summer.

It is said that Steve Bruce, the current Magpies manager, is an admirer of the 20-year-old Tottenham academy graduate.

Skipp impressed last time out during his loan spell at Norwich City, where he helped the Canaries to win promotion back to the Premier League via the Championship title.

The report also adds that Norwich themselves are keen on bringing Skipp back for another campaign, while Newcastle are said to be looking for midfield reinforcements of their own.

The Daily Mail claim that Nuno Espirito Santo and Spurs will make a late call on whether to keep or loan out the midfielder, but the club have high hopes for him in the future either way.

Newcastle have apparently also shown interest in Boubacar Kamara at Marseille, Arsenal’s Joe Willock and Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Unless Spurs sign a new top-class central midfielder, I see no reason to loan Skipp out this year. Simply put, he is better than the vast majority of players we already have. I see him being a backup to Hojbjerg and maybe even a partner.
