Report: Newcastle and Southampton show interest in £25m-rated Spurs midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have set a £25million valuation on Harry Winks ahead of this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder is expected to leave north London this summer after falling down the pecking order under both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte with the likes of Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Winks is said to be attracting early interest from Premier League clubs including Newcastle United and Southampton.

The boyhood Spurs fan started just nine Premier League games last season and won the last of his ten England caps back in November 2020 (transfermarkt).

Winks needs to get his career back on track, he burst onto the scene with a brilliant performance against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in 2017 but has become a shadow of the player we saw on the pitch that evening.

A lack of confidence appears to have crept into his game with a tendency to pass the ball sideways or backwards, rather than looking for opportunities further up the pitch.
