Report: Newcastle are considering a shock move for 23-year-old Spurs star

Football Transfers have claimed that Newcastle United are eyeing a shock move for Dejan Kulusevski amidst uncertainty over whether Tottenham will sign the winger permanently.

There have been mixed reports over recent weeks regarding whether or not Tottenham are expected to take up the €35m (£30m) option to sign Kulusveski permanently.

While CMW.it recently claimed that Tottenham have decided against signing the winger permanently, Alasdair Gold told Football.London last week that the Lilywhites have already decided that they will be activating the clause to buy the 23-year-old.

It was then reported by Calciomercato a few days ago that Spurs could look to renegotiate a deal with Juventus to see whether they can sign the Sweden international for less than the £30m clause.

Newcastle are monitoring Kulusevski

Football Transfers have now suggested that Newcastle are watching Kulusevski’s situation closely and have made him ‘one of their priorities’ for the summer.

The report asserted that the former Atalanta man was of interest to the Tyneside club last summer as well and should Spurs decide against activating their cause to buy, they could swoop in to take the player to St James’ Park.

I just cannot see a world where Spurs do not activate the option to buy Kulusevski as other clubs would be happy to pay more than £30m for the Swede if he is put in the shop window this summer.

It seems pretty clear that the 23-year-old wants to make the permanent switch to North London, which is why I am confident that the deal would go through.
