Report: Newcastle are now ready to challenge Spurs and Liverpool for 25-year-old

HITC have claimed that Newcastle United have now joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly.

Kelly has continued to impress for Andoni Iraola’s men this season and with his current deal running in June, unsurprisingly, his future continues to be the subject of plenty of speculation.

Last week, TEAMtalk claimed that the 25-year-old had decided not to pen a new contract at the South Coast club and was set for a free transfer at the end of the season.

The report stated that both Spurs and Liverpool were keen on landing the Englishman, explaining that the Reds had moved to the front of the queue for the player’s signature.

A couple of days ago, Football Insider reported that Kelly is not in a hurry to make a decision on his future and is keeping all of his options open for the time being.

HITC have now also backed up Tottenham’s and Liverpool’s interest in Kelly but they reveal that the Lilywhites and Merseysiders have now also been joined in the race by the Magpies.

The outlet alleges that all three clubs have indicated to the player’s representatives that they are willing to make offers for him ahead of the summer.

However, the publication adds that the interest is not restricted to the Premier League, with AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli and AS Roma already thought to have spoken to the Englishman’s entourage.

There will likely be a few twists and turns in the race for Kelly’s signature over the next few months. Non-English sides have an advantage as they could agree a pre-contract agreement with the centre-back before June but one would assume that the player’s preference would be to remain in the Premier League.
