Report: Newcastle cannot afford to rival Spurs for striker this summer

A report by The Athletic has claimed that Newcastle United would like to make a move for Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic this summer, but cannot afford him.

The Athletic claim that Kalajdzic is expected to leave Stuttgart this summer, with the goalscorer having just 24 months left on his current contract.

It is said that while Newcastle have scouted the striker ahead of Euro 2020 where he will represent Austria, they cannot afford his price tag at this moment in time.

TransferMarkt claim that the 23-year-old is currently worth around £20m, with Stuttgart having paid just £1.58m for him back in 2019.

Kalajdzic comes off the back of an impressive Bundesliga campaign, having scored 16 and assisted six in 33 league games for Stuttgart.

The striker stands at a massive six-foot-seven-inches tall, with Eurosport claiming that Tottenham are also watching him very closely this summer.

Harry Kane is still the only senior striker in North London after Carlos Vinicius’ loan spell came to an end.
