Report: Newcastle could join race for midfielder wanted by Spurs and West Ham

The Sun have revealed that Newcastle United are now considering entering the race to sign Bristol City starlet, Alex Scott, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last two months.

Spurs and Newcastle are seemingly battling it out for the fourth spot this season and it has been suggested that the two clubs could also be facing off in the summer transfer window.

Both the Lilywhites and the Magpies are already said to be monitoring James Maddison’s situation at Leicester (Football Insider), and it has now emerged that Eddie Howe’s men could challenge Tottenham for Scott’s signature.

The Sun have revealed that the 19-year-old, who is considered by many to be one of the best young talents in the Championship, was already on the radar of Spurs, West Ham United and Crystal Palace.

The report adds that Newcastle could now join the queue for Scott’s signature, with scouts from the North East club said to have watched the teenager closely this season.

It is asserted that Bristol are bracing itself for further interest in the midfielder during the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if more than half a dozen Premier League clubs express an interest in Scott during the summer as he looks ready to make the step up to the top flight.

The one thing that could work against Spurs is the fact that the 19-year-old might feel that he has a better shot of getting first-team opportunities at a club like Palace or West Ham.
