Report: Newcastle could make move for Spurs midfielder and Gareth Bale

Spanish publication, Sport have reported that Newcastle United could make a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli next summer.

Alli struggled to get game time for the majority of last season under Jose Mourinho and the midfielder was linked with a move away from the club during the summer.

The 25-year-old ended up staying at the club and it looked as though he had found a new lease of life under Nuno Espirito Santo, impressing in a deeper role in the first three games of the campaign.

However, his form has dropped off over the last few games, with the England international being an unused substitute in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa before the international break.

Some pundits have urged the former MK Dons man to leave North London in order to rediscover his form and, with competition to contend with from the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, it remains to be seen whether he can get back into the consistent starting eleven this season.

If Sports’ latest update is to be believed, Alli is among the names on Newcastle’s radar after their recent takeover.

The report adds that the Spurs man is part of a list of names the Magpies have drawn up for next summer, which also includes Gareth Bale.

It is explained that Newcastle might hand the Welshman a contract after his current deal with Real Madrid runs out at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have said this for the last couple of seasons but this year really does feel like make or break for Dele. If he struggles to get a regular run in the team, then I would expect Spurs to cash in on him. He looks like he might need a new challenge to rejuvenate his career.
