Report: Newcastle interested in making move for £16m-rated Spurs-linked star

Newcastle are interested in signing Torino defender and alleged Tottenham target Gleison Bremer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Magpies, who recently signed Burnley striker Chris Wood, may now be thinking about making defensive acquisitions to bolster their chances of survival this season.

Eddie Howe’s side have already drafted in Kieran Trippier, but the heart of defence appears to be the next move, with the Daily Mail reporting Bremer has emerged as a new target.

The Brazilian, 24, has been valued at around €20 million (£16.6m) by Torino but is also seeing interest arise from Serie A leaders Inter Milan this month.

He has also emerged as a target for Tottenham in recent weeks, with manager Antonio Conte reportedly shortlisting him as an option to bolster the defenders at his disposal.

Bremer has been regular for Torino this term, making 19 appearances in Serie A and has missed just one game through injury for Il Toro.

Conte has made it known that he wants to add a new centre-back to his squad, and Bremer seems too be an interesting option that Spurs are reportedly looking at. The quoted price is very modest too, however, it is likely that Torino will not want to part ways with him easily mid-season.
