Report: Newcastle have now entered the race for Spurs-linked centre-back

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Kim Min-Jae is also of interest to Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.

Kim Min-Jae has had a dream debut season in Italy, with his solid displays at the back being one of the key reasons why Napoli got their hands on the Scudetto this season.

The centre-back’s commanding displays have allegedly caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham.

90 min claimed earlier this month that the Lilywhites are expected to face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool for the South Korean’s signature this summer.

The report added that Napoli have not lost hope of tying down Kim to a new contract and that the Italian club were hopeful the player could commit to a deal that would remove the €50m (£43.3) release clause, which is set to become active at the beginning of July.

Romano has now taken to social media that the Magpies have now also set their sights on the 26-year-old as Eddie Howe looks to reinforce his backline.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs stand a chance of winning the race for Kim, given our failure to qualify for Europe.

If the centre-back does leave Napoli, I expect him to end up at Manchester United, who are seemingly prioritising strengthening at central defence this summer.
