Report: Newcastle in talks with Juventus for rumoured Spurs target

According to the print edition of Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle United are now the front-runners to land rumoured Tottenham target Matias Soule.

It might come as a surprise to many to hear that Juventus are considering cashing in on Soule, given that the youngster has been a revelation since joining Frosinone on loan in the summer.

However, various Italian outlets over the last month have indicated that the Old Lady are ready to sacrifice the 20-year-old in order to be able to fund moves for their top transfer targets (CalcioMercato).

Over the last couple of weeks, it has been suggested by multiple reports that Tottenham are leading the race for the Argentine starlet, with Newcastle and Crystal Palace also said to be eyeing the player (JuveLive)

Newcastle hold talks for Matias Soule

If Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, the Magpies have now moved to the front of the queue for Soule, with work underway behind the scenes on a transfer.

The report states that Juve’s technical director Cristiano Giuntoli has flown to England to hold meetings with Newcastle about the winger, with the parties said to have continued contracts over the last few days.

It is alleged that the Bianconeri are now ‘increasingly inclined’ to sell Soule to Eddie Howe’s men in next month’s transfer window.

The publication adds that an offer of around €25m (£21.6m) plus bonuses would be ‘difficult to refuse’ for the Serie A giants.

Spurs Web Opinion

Matias Soule certainly fits the profile of youngsters Spurs have targeted over the recent transfer windows and the Argentine also appears like a natural fit for Ange’s system. I would be surprised if Tottenham allowed the 20-year-old to join Newcastle without a fight.
