According to The Sunday Mirror (9/4; page 76), Newcastle United are now the favourites to sign Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Zaha’s current deal at Selhurst Park runs out in June and all indications at the moment are that the attacker will leave Palace on a free transfer.
London World reported last month that Tottenham are at the front of the queue to snap up the 30-year-old, with the publication stating that the North London club are ‘increasingly confident’ of securing the attacker’s signature.
The report asserted that while Palace are not willing to increase Zaha’s £130,000-a-week salary, Spurs are ready to offer the winger a pay rise and had already contacted the player’s representatives regarding a transfer.
However, The Mirror have now stated that Newcastle and West Ham have been the first ones to make moves for Zaha.
The publication claims that it is the Magpies who are now leading the race for the Ivorian’s signature, with the player said to be keen to test himself in Europe next season.
In fact, it is suggested on the back of Zaha’s injury over the weekend that the former Man Utd star might have already played his last game for the Eagles.

It appears as if Spurs and Newcastle might go after several of the same transfer targets this summer, with both said to be keen on the likes of Maddison and Zaha.
That makes Champions League qualification all the more vital for us.
