Report: Newcastle now set to turn attention towards 24-year-old Spurs target

The Daily Mirror have revealed that Newcastle United are set to prioritise a move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Gibbs-White this summer amidst Forest’s financial crisis.

This claim was first carried out at the start of this month by talkSPORT, who said that the Midlands club might have to offload the midfielder to avoid further sanctions and that Lilywhites are ready to pounce on the player.

The same information was subsequently backed up by The Telegraph, who said that Forest would have to sell the 24-year-old by June 30 and that the club valued the player at around £50m.

Newcastle set to enter the race for Gibbs-White

The Mirror have now suggested that Spurs may face competition from the Magpies, who are also quite keen on securing Gibbs-White.

It is explained that Newcastle themselves would have to offload one of their stars this summer to ensure they do not fall foul of the PSR regulations and that Bruno Guimaraes is the player who could be sacrificed.

It is alleged that Eddie Howe’s men could sell the Brazilian to one of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City for £100m and replace him with Gibbs-White, who is expected to be available for half that price.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have no doubt that Conor Gallagher still remains Ange Postecoglou’s top midfield target and I only see Spurs turning their attention to Gibbs-White if they are unable to get a deal for the Chelsea man over the line.
