CalcioMercatoWeb.it have claimed that Newcastle United are plotting the signing of rumoured Tottenham target Milan Skriniar next summer.
Skriniar has been an indispensable part of the Inter backline under Simone Inzaghi but the centre-back’s future at the San Siro is in doubt, with his current contract at the club running out next summer (Transfermarkt).
90 min reported last month that Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen Tottenham’s backline in January, with the Slovak said to be one of the names on the North London club’s radar.
CMW.it have now offered an update on Skriniar’s future, explaining that the Nerazzurri are still ‘working’ on extending the defender’s contract and are ‘hoping’ that the player will commit his future to the club.
However, it is explained that the 27-year-old has now caught the attention of Newcastle, who have identified the Inter star as their top target to strengthen their backline next summer.
It is alleged that if Skriniar does not renew his deal at the San Siro, Eddie Howe’s men are prepared to make the player a ‘huge contract offer’.

CMW.it add that Newcastle’s hopes of landing Skriniar might also depend on whether they are able to qualify for the Champions League.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Inter suspect that Skriniar is not going to sign a new deal, they will try their best to cash in on him in January. However, my personal suspicion is that the centre-back will commit his future to the club, particularly after Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta expressed optimism about the same recently (Fabrizio Romano).
