Report: Newcastle set to receive injury boost ahead of Spurs clash

Football Insider have claimed that Callum Wilson is confident of being fit for the clash against Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday.

Tottenham’s season seemed to have hit rock bottom when the club were dumped out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb.

However, a spirited performance at Villa Park on Sunday saw Spurs move to within three points off fourth-placed Chelsea and suggested that Jose Mourinho’s men may yet have some fight left in them this season.

Tottenham have another winnable game when the league resumes after the international break with the Magpies on an extremely poor run of form.

However, Steve Bruce’s men, who are sitting just two points off the drop zone, could be handed a boost with the return of Wilson.

The England international has been out of action with a hamstring injury since the start of February but Football Insider now report that the striker is nearing a return and is upbeat about his chances of being available for the Spurs clash.

Wilson has been Newcastle’s most dangerous attacking threat by far this season with 10 goals and 5 assists in 21 Premier League games and so Tottenham will have to be wary of the former Bournemouth man if he plays.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is always an element of the unknown in the first fixture back following the international break as we will have to wait and see if our players come back unscathed. However, Newcastle have been extremely poor recently and we could not really ask for a more winnable game. So irrespective of whether Wilson plays, nothing less than a win would suffice for Spurs on Sunday, especially if we harbour serious top four ambitions.
