Report: Newcastle step up efforts to beat Tottenham to Juventus player

A report in JuveLive has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in signing Juventus starlet Matias Soule but it is Newcastle who are now leading the race for the versatile attacker.

Soule has long been viewed as a potential future star and the 20-year-old is starting to showcase his potential on loan at Frosinone this season, having managed six goals and an assist in 12 Serie A appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

Juve Live have now asserted that the winger, who can also operate as a number eight/ten, has caught the eye of Tottenham ahead of January, with the North London club said to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.

Soule is also allegedly being watched by Crystal Palace but it is revealed that Newcastle are the ones who are now at the front of the queue to secure the player’s signature.

The Magpies are said to have made their intention to sign the Argentina under-20 international clear to Juventus, with the Serie A club’s director, Cristiano Giuntoli, set to travel to England to discuss a potential sale.

The report adds that the Old Lady are looking for a fee in the region of €25m (£21.3m) for Soule, which Newcastle would be willing to pay, with Howe wanting the deal to be concluded swiftly.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is quite surprising that Juventus are considering cashing in on a promising young talent like Soule, which is perhaps clear evidence of the financial mess that the Serie A club find themselves in.

It might make sense for Tottenham to test the water with offers for the likes of Gleison Bremer and Federico Chiesa in January as it appears that every single player in the Bionconeri’s ranks has a price.
