Report: Newcastle throw hint by cancelling interviews ahead of Spurs clash

According to reports, Newcastle may have thrown the biggest hint yet that they could have a new manager in charge for their clash against Tottenham.

Newcastle’s £305million Saudi-led takeover has dominated footballing headlines over the past few days.

Amanda Staveley, who is part of the new ownership group, has promised Newcastle supporters that significant investment will be made into the squad in an effort to push the club to the top end of the table.

Steve Bruce is expected to be let go by the club, with the Magpies being linked with the likes of Antonio Conte, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

Bruce has remained in charge until now, with the 60-year-old reportedly overseeing training at the club today.

However, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie (as relayed by The Express), Newcastle might have now thrown a hint that a managerial change is imminent.

It is explained that Bruce was set to preview his proposed 1,000th game in management – Newcastle’s clash with Tottenham on Saturday.

However, the interviews with rights-holding broadcasters did not go ahead as planned on Tuesday. It is suggested that this could be a sign that Bruce is on his way out ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Irrespective of whether Bruce is still in charge come Sunday, there is no doubt that the Newcastle supporters and players would have been buoyed by the takeover. So, one would expect them to put in a spirited performance. We are certainly going to have to be at our best to take all three points.
