Report: Newcastle willing to pay £51m for 28-year-old alleged Spurs target

According to AS, Newcastle United are ready to pay €60m (£51m) for Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Tottenham have strengthened at left wing-back with the capture of Ivan Perisic while Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence is thought to be the North London club’s first-choice target for the right wing-back role this summer (The Northern Echo).

Carrasco was previously reported to be another option on Spurs’ radar, with The Evening Standard revealing last month that the Belgian international’s name had been discussed by the Lilywhites’ hierarchy.

AS have now revealed that Atletico have no intention of selling Carrasco this summer on the back of the 28-year-old’s impressive showing this season.

The report claims that AC Milan are interested in the wing-back while Newcastle are said to be willing to meet the player’s release clause, which stands at €60m (£51m).

However, Diego Simeone’s men are said to be calm about the situation as they know that Carrasco is happy at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is any chance of Spurs reigniting their interest in Carrasco this summer, now that we have Perisic on board. I doubt Conte would consider the Belgian as an option for the right wing-back role as the 28-year-old has done his best work for both club and country at left wing-back despite being right-footed.
