Report: Nine other clubs interested in Spurs target

Tottenham have recently strengthened their midfield considerably with the acquisition of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for a club record fee but reports indicate that Spurs aren’t done adding reinforcements to the middle of the park, with Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos linked with a loan deal (Daily Star).

The 22-year-old found playing time hard to come by under Zinedine Zidane last season but had a spectacular U-21 Euro Championship campaign with Spain, playing a pivotal role in helping his nation lift the trophy.

A report in Spanish publication, ABC claims that the Real Madrid have received as many as 25 different offers for Ceballos with Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis, and Getafe, all still claimed to be holding an interest in the midfielder.

The report claims that Los Blancos are closely studying the various proposals in order to determine which one would be the best for Ceballos, as Zidane has already ruled him surplus to requirements.

The report also suggests that Madrid like Tottenham’s proposal the best so far due to the fact that North Londoners are open to a loan move and Madrid are convinced Ceballos will get regular game time under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is extremely unlikely that Tottenham will accept a loan deal without an option to buy. Even if there is an option to buy, Madrid could insist on a buy-back clause which might not sit well with Levy. Based on the amount of interest in the 22-year-old, there could potentially be more twists in this transfer.
