Report: No single team is in pole position to sign out of favour Spurs player

CalcioMercato.it have claimed that as things stand, no team has a clear advantage in the race to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

It is now evident that Lo Celso is not part of Antonio Conte’s plans at Spurs, with the midfielder not being involved in the club’s pre-season since returning from his loan spell at Villarreal during the second half of last season.

Over the past few weeks, the 26-year-old has been linked with a return to Villarreal (Todofichajes) while Fiorentina (The Times), Napoli (Area Napoli) and AS Roma (CalcioMercatoWeb) have also been credited with an interest in him.

Esport Base Media journalist Xavi Jorquera Marquez claimed this week that Villarreal had stepped up their pursuit of the Argentine.

However, according to Cacliomercato.it’s latest update, Lo Celso’s future still remains up in the air.

The report primarily discusses Napoli’s interest in the Tottenham star, explaining that Luciano Spalletti’s side have an eye on the midfielder amidst the risk of losing Piotr Zielinski to West Ham United.

It is asserted that Napoli continue to be in contact with Spurs regarding Lo Celso, and have as good a chance of signing the former Real Betis man as any other club in the race.

Finally, Calicomercato.it add that as time passes, Tottenham are coming around to the idea of loaning the midfielder out this summer, with an option to buy him for €20m (£16.7m).

Spurs Web Opinion

The problem in shifting Lo Celso is not a lack of interest as the midfielder is evidently wanted by several sides in La Liga and Serie A.

However, the issue Tottenham have is that not a lot of Italian or Spanish clubs have money to spend this summer.

So, Spurs might have no choice but to loan out the likes of Emerson, Lo Celso, Reguilon and Tanganga, with a potential option or obligation to buy.
