Report: Club slap £50m price tag on the head of reported Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur may soon be in the market for a new central defender in North London if a number of their first-team players leave the club in the next year.

Spurs currently have the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Japhet Tanganga, and Cameron Carter-Vickers on their books.

However, Alderweireld and Vertonghen both see their respective contracts come to an end in the summer, meaning they could leave as free agents.

Japhet Tanganga is in a similar position, with all three players able to talk to non-English clubs as early as January about pre-contract agreements.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is also having a bit of a tough time at Stoke City this season, as the USA international was dropped from the squad altogether recently.

It should come as no surprise that Spurs have been linked with Norwich City centre-back Ben Godfrey of late then, but the Canaries have now put a hefty price on his head.

Recent reports claimed that Spurs were looking at a £25m deal for the defender (Football Insider), however, The Athletic have now reported that Norwich want a whopping £50m for their man.

Is he worth that much?
