Report: Not looking good for Tottenham in the race to sign central defender

FootMercato have claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Tosin Adarabioyo is now close to completing a switch to Monaco.

A couple of days ago, we relayed a report from Football London which claimed that Spurs are expected to launch their opening offer for Adarabioyo this week.

The outlet claimed that the Fulham man was attracting interest from the likes of Monaco, which is why the Lilywhites are keen to move swiftly to secure his services.

The report added that the 25-year-old is keen on making a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

However, Foot Mercato have now suggested that it is Monaco who are making strides towards signing Adarabioyo.

It is explained that the Ligue 1 club had identified the Fulham star as their top priority to replace Chelsea-bound Axel Disasi and have already reached an agreement with the centre-back on personal terms.

It is alleged that despite facing competition from Spurs, Monaco’s negotiations with Fulham are now progressing ‘very well’, with the two clubs now ‘close’ to reaching an agreement.

Spurs Web Opinion

Adarabioyo would undoubtedly prefer a move to Spurs if the North London club showed concrete interest.

If it is true that the 25-year-old has given the green light for a move to Monaco instead, that suggests that the Lilywhites might be targeting other centre-backs, potentially both Van de Ven and Tapsoba.
