Report: Nottingham Forest could make move for player who left Spurs in 2021

RMC Sport have revealed that Nottingham Forest could make a move for former Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier.

Aurier spent four seasons at Tottenham after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and the right-back departed the club last summer as a free agent after running his contract down.

Aurier signed a 12-month deal with Villarreal after leaving Spurs with the La Liga side having the option to extend the deal by another two years (AS).

However, the Ivory Coast international is now a free agent after Unai Emery’s side chose not to take up the option to extend his contract.

RMC Sport claim that the like of Atletico Madrid, Fulham and Galatasaray were watching Aurier earlier this summer but none of those clubs have pushed ahead with an offer.

It is explained that Nottingham Forest now appear to be the former Tottenham man’s most likely destination, with the newly promoted club considering offering the 29-year-old a deal.

Aurier might not be the only former Spurs full-back to end up at Forest before with window shuts, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein reporting recently that Steve Cooper’s side are also showing interest in Sergio Reguilon.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been surprised by Aurier’s struggles at Villarreal. Despite his tendency for lapses in concentration, he proved to be a competent right-back at times for Spurs.

There is no doubt that he is Premier League quality and if his head is in the right place, I believe he would be a terrific signing for Forest.
