Report: Nottingham Forest plotting move for Spurs youngster

The Athletic have claimed that Nottingham Forest are eyeing a loan deal for Tottenham winger Jack Clarke in the summer.

After a difficult 2019/20 season, Clarke demonstrated the ability that made Spurs splash out £10m on him over the course of this campaign.

Following some promising cameos for the first-team in the first half of the season, the 20-year-old was loaned out to Stoke City in January, where he showed glimpses of real quality.

The youngster impressed with his ability to drive at defenders during his spell at the Bet365 Stadium and quickly won over some Stoke fans.

However, his time at Stoke was cut-shot due to an achilles injury he picked up at the start of last month, which forced him to return to Tottenham.

The Athletic now claim that former Spurs defender and first-team assistant coach, Chris Hughton, who took over at the City Ground last summer, is keen on bolstering Nottingham’s attacking options and is eyeing a loan deal for Clarke.

The report also adds that Forest are just one of several clubs to have registered in the winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Clarke needs regular game time next season and I fully expect him to be loaned out to a Championship club again. I would not be surprised if we did send him to Forest given the relationship that Hughton has with the Spurs hierarchy.
