Report: Nuno could name Spurs starlet in squad to face Man City

Football.London have suggested that Dane Scarlett has a very good chance of making Nuno Espirito Santo’s matchday squad for Tottenham’s season opener against Man City today.
Tottenham welcome the Premier League champions in Nuno’s first competitive game in charge as Spurs boss.
The build-up to the game has been dominated by speculation regarding Harry Kane’s mooted move to City.
There remains a question mark over whether the striker will make the squad for the match but the Tottenham boss previously claimed the 28-year-old will be available for selection.
Football.London have looked into the potential choices the 48-year-old has ahead of him in his first test as the Spurs boss and they do not rule out the possibility of Kane being a part of the matchday squad.
The report points out that the Premier League will continue to allow nine substitutes this season and Nuno is thus likely to name Scarlett on the bench.
The 17-year-old, who has generated a lot of excitement at the club thanks to his prolific record at youth level, has been prominently involved in Tottenham’s pre-season games, with the youngster finding the back of the net in the 1-1 draw against MK Dons.
Football.London also reveal that Cristian Romero and Bryan Gil are doubts to be in the matchday squad while Pierluigi Gollini is set to be named among the substitutes.

Throwing someone with Scarlett’s pace and sharpness on in the final 10 minutes against tired legs could cause City problems.
Players will take a few matches to get into peak fitness and so one would expect City to tire and make mistakes in the final part of the game. Given Nuno’s emphasis on fitness in pre-season, this might not be such a bad time to be playing City.
