Report: Nuno Espirito Santo in contention to join Premier League club

The Daily Mail have claimed that former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo is in contention to take over at Burnley.

Tottenham’s prolonged managerial search last summer eventually concluded with Nuno’s appointment, just months after he had parted ways with Wolves.

However, the Portuguese coach lasted just four months in the North London hot seat before being replaced by Antonio Conte at the start of November.

Nuno is still out of work since leaving Spurs, with previous reports claiming the 48-year-old is waiting for a Premier League job to open up as he is keen to remain in England (Le10 Sport).

If The Mail’s latest update is to be believed, an opportunity could appear at Turf Moor for the former Spurs boss.

The report claims that Burnley could decide to continue with interim boss Mike Jackson until the end of the season following their decision to sack Sean Dyche.

It is said that the Clarets hierarchy might look at potential options at the end of the campaign, with Nuno alleged to be one of the names discussed. Other names that Burnley are said to be looking at include Sam Allardyce, Rafa Benitez and Carlos Carvahal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Nuno is certainly not as bad a manager as he seemed during his time at Spurs. It was bad timing for the Portuguese coach, with the club in transition and Kane struggling following his failed move to Man City.

However, I thought the 48-year-old conducted himself with class and he certainly deserves another opportunity in the Premier League after the impressive work he did at Wolves.
