Report: Nuno makes decision on Pochettino regular ahead of Burnley clash

The Daily Mail have revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo has decided not to include Dele Alli in Tottenham’s squad for their Carabao Cup clash against Burnley this evening.

Dele started Tottenham’s first six Premier League games of the season and seemed to have found a new lease of life in the slightly deeper role he was deployed in.

However, the England international has become a peripheral figure in recent weeks, having not played a single minute in the top flight since Spurs’ 3-1 loss in the North London derby last month, where he was hauled off at halftime with his side trailing 3-0.

The 25-year-old was part of the team that lost 1-0 against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League last week and he was subsequently an unused substitute for the clash against West Ham on Sunday.

Nuno has revealed that he will be taking a strong squad to Turf Moor for the Carabao Cup round of 16 clash, even describing the match as ‘a final’.

If this is a sign that Nuno has made up his mind on Alli, that could spell the end of the 25-year-old’s Spurs career. In many ways, this season was the last chance saloon for the former MK Dons man. He cannot have too many complaints at being dropped as he simply has not grabbed the opportunities that have come his way.
