Giovani Lo Celso appears to be edging closer and closer to the exit door at Spurs, after a report from Spain claimed ‘official meetings’ have been held regarding a switch to his former club, Real Betis.

After spending two seasons on loan at Villarreal, Lo Celso returned to North London last summer and earned a second chance at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.
The Argentine midfielder made 24 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season, scoring two goals and registering two assists (Transfermarkt). However, with just 595 minutes under his belt, Lo Celso averaged only 25 minutes per game over the season.
For a 28-year-old with international football to consider, that is far from adequate, so it’s no surprise Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer.
Estadio Deportivo have covered Lo Celso’s situation extensively, and the outlet suggested the player is the subject of intense interest from his former club, Real Betis, with contact thought to be ongoing between all parties.

Spurs and Betis are talking about Lo Celso
Now, the latest report from El Mira sheds further light on the chances of Lo Celso moving to Betis, as the player has been earmarked as the “main objective” for the La Liga side in the upcoming transfer window.
It is thought “official meetings” have already taken place in order to thrash out a deal for Lo Celso, and bringing him back to the club is regarded as one of the “great wishes” for Betis this summer.
While the Spanish outfit are believed to be struggling to meet Tottenham’s demands, it is suggested the desire of the player to switch to Betis could be “more than enough to unblock the operation” and help the clubs find a suitable arrangement.
Spurs Web Opinion
Sadly, Lo Celso just never got going this season, and he’s certainly come to the end of the road at Spurs. With the intensity with which we are being linked to players in his position, I would imagine it won’t be long after Copa America that we see Lo Celso depart Spurs.
