Report: On-loan Spurs man is still struggling with persistent injury

According to Club Doria 46 (12/10/22 as translated by Sport Witness) Harry Winks is still not expected to be fit for Sampdoria’s clash against AS Roma on Monday.

Winks has not made the matchday squad since his move to Sampdoria, with the midfielder recovering from an ankle problem.

SampNews24 claimed last week that while the 26-year-old was expected to get minutes after the international break, he had suffered a setback in his recovery.

Football.London reported a couple of days ago that the England international’s name was absent in Sampdoria’s latest updates regarding first-team training, which means the Spurs star continues to work on his own.

Club Doria 46 have now revealed that Winks still continues to train separately from the rest of the squad as he works towards his fitness.

The report adds that there does not seem to be ‘any progress’ with the on-loan Tottenham man, which is why he is a doubt for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s men to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Monday.

The part about Winks not having not made any progress is not encouraging at all. It is starting to seem like we might not see the Spurs star get match-fit until after the World Cup, which is disappointing for all parties involved, especially the player.
