Report: On-loan Spurs player working overtime to make first appearance

Calciomercato have revealed that Harry Winks is putting in extra work to return to full fitness and be considered for selection at Sampdoria.

Winks has not yet featured for the Serie A club since his loan move from Tottenham in the summer, with the midfielder continuing to recover from an ankle injury.

Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo admitted two weeks ago that he has no idea when the 26-year-old will be back to full fitness (Fabrizio Romano).

CalcioMercato have now stated that the Italian club are ‘doing everything possible’ to get Winks back on the field.

It is explained that the on-loan Tottenham man is yet to train with his new teammates since his summer switch.

However, the report adds that the spotlight will be on the England international from yesterday and his progress will continue to be closely monitored.

Winks is said to have worked overtime with the fitness coaches during the international break in order to return to action as quickly as possible.

Calcio Mercato suggest that the midfielder’s condition has now ‘improved considerably’ and Sampdoria hope that he will be part of the matchday squad against Monza on Sunday.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do wonder if the injuries that Winks and Reguilon were carrying played a part in Tottenham struggling to find moves for them over the summer. It did seem strange that neither player attracted too much interest until the final couple of weeks of the transfer window.
