Report: On-loan Spurs star hailed for ‘great performance’ in impressive win

Marca have hailed Giovani Lo Celso’s performance in Villareal’s 4-1 win over Granada on Saturday.

Lo Celso was one of three Tottenham players to leave on loan during transfer deadline day in January, with the midfielder joining his former Tottenham teammates Juan Foyth and Serge Aurier at Villarreal.

After making his first start for the Yellow Submarine in their 0-0 draw against Real Madrid the previous week, the midfielder kept his place in the starting eleven for their trip to Granada.

Lo Celso was praised for his part in the win, with Marca applauding the midfielder for his ‘tremendous’ passing.

They revealed that the 25-year-old had been at a ‘high level’ and labelled his performance as ‘great’.

However, one man who did not have such a great outing was Aurier, who had a typical moment of madness, with his high boot inside the box resulting in a penalty kick being awarded for the home side.

Tottenham will be hoping that Lo Celso seals his place as a regular in Unai Emery’s starting eleven and continues to get better with regular game time under his belt.

The Premier League club would want to get a bidding war going for the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens as it appears like he is not in Conte’s plans.
