Report: On-loan Tottenham man is Serie A club’s top summer transfer target

CalcioMercato have revealed that on-loan Tottenham goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is Lazio’s number one goalkeeper target in the summer.

Golllini joined Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Atalanta last summer, with the Lilywhites having the option to sign the goalkeeper on a permanent basis for £13m (Sky Sports).

However, the Italian has found opportunities to be few and far between this season, having not featured in a single Premier League game to date.

Italian publication Citta Celeste claimed last month that the 26-year-old was not happy with his lack of game time in North London and is ‘determined to leave’ the club at the end of his loan spell.

TuttoMercatoWeb were the first to report a couple of weeks ago that Lazio had expressed interest in signing the on-loan Atalanta shot-stopper in the summer.

That has now been backed up by CalcioMercato, who claim that Lazio have identified Gollini as their number one target to replace Thomas Strakosha, whose contract with the Serie A club runs out in June.

The report states that Gollini would be open to a move to Lazio as the goalkeeper wants to be a starter next season after serving as Lloris’ understudy at Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs will take up the option to sign Gollini permanently unless Atalanta are willing to sell him for around half of the £13m permanent clause.

Besides, the Italian international will likely want regular first-team football rather than continuing to serve as a number two at Spurs.
