Report: One of Tottenham’s Champions League heroes could be heading to Italy

Fernando Llorente saw his contract at Tottenham Hotspur expire at the end of last season (talkSPORT).

The 34-year-old put in some vital performances during the previous campaign in the absence of Harry Kane and was a vital part of the club’s Champions League run.

Despite his impressive displays in the second half of last season, the club has to date not confirmed his exit from North London.

According to a report in CalicoMercato, Roma are set to take advantage of the situation by snapping up Llorente.

The report claims that the Italian giants expect Patrik Schick and Edin Dzeko to leave the club this summer and wish to bolster their attacking options.

It is suggested that Roma will complete a move for the former Spurs striker as soon as they are able to free up squad space.

Llorente has a great reputation in Italy having impressed during his stint at Juventus before moving to the Premier League with Swansea City.

Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli have all proven quite capable of leading the line in case of an injury to Harry Kane.

While Llorente certainly did well when he was called upon, the club are making the right decision by not offering the 34-year-old an extension.
