Yves Bissouma has not been selected for the Mali squad for the current international break, and it is thought the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is very unhappy with the decision to omit him from the team.
At the start of the season, Yves Bissouma was in incredible form for Spurs, dominating the midfield area and showcasing all the talents that tempted the North London club into buying him in the first place.
However, that form has taken a significant dip since the turn of the year. Bissouma has been in and out of Ange Postecoglou‘s starting lineup, through suspension and international duty at the African Cup of Nations, but of late, he has looked out of sorts.
In the recent defeat to Fulham in the Premier League, Bissouma attracted a lot of criticism in particular for his display.

And now, the Mali midfielder has suffered a new blow as he was not included in his country’s squad for the upcoming international fixtures this month.
Speaking to the press (via Football.London) about his decision, Mali manager Eric Chelle said: “Like many players, he deserves to be selected, it’s just a choice. In my diamond, there are players right now who are slightly safer. That doesn’t mean he won’t be called again.”

However, reports from Mali claim Bissouma has reacted “furiously” to the snub. It is thought he has deleted all associations with the country from his social media accounts and even unfollowed the Mali Football Federation on Instagram.

I can’t claim to have a wide knowledge of what Malian players have been in good form lately, but I’m not surprised Bissouma hasn’t made the squad. He’s been pretty lucky to remain in the Spurs starting lineup, and I imagine he will now have to work hard to prevent being dropped by Postecoglou, too.
