Report: ‘One to keep an eye on’ – Striker is ‘appreciated’ by Fabio Paratici at Spurs

According to The Daily Express, Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici is a fan of Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Antonio Conte is thought to be prioritising adding a new forward to his Tottenham squad in the January transfer window.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic over recent months but it has been suggested that the striker is unlikely to move in January.

Gazzetta dello Sport were the first to report last month (via Sport Witness) that Tottenham had identified Scamacca as an alternative to Vlahovic should a move for the Serbian prove too difficult to pull off.

After impressing on loan at Ascoli and Genoa the last two seasons, Scamacca has shone on his return to the Mapei Stadium, having found the back of the net six times in the Serie A so far this campaign.

The Express have now also revealed that Spurs are exploring signing the 21-year-old, who is ‘appreciated’ by Paratici.

The report adds that the Sassuolo striker is ‘one to keep an eye on’ for Tottenham this summer.

Scamacca would be a much more realistic target for Spurs than Vlahovic. Not only would the 23-year-old be much less expensive than the Serbian but he is also more likely to be content with a bit-part role, at least initially, rather than expecting to be the main man up front.
