Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Sergio Reguilon is close to returning to full training after having surgery.

The left-back has not featured for Atletico Madrid yet since his loan move to the Spanish capital in the summer.

Mundo Deportivo explain that Reguilon was carrying an injury when he arrived and recently had pubis surgery to sort out the problem.

The 25-year-old is yet to work with manager Diego Simeone, and it is explained that fitness coaches Oscar Pitillas and Jose Ignacio Zahinos are now running the rule over him to get him back to full fitness.

The report reveals that even though Reguilon has not trained with his new teammates yet, he was working with the ball in different ‘explosive exercises’ at Atletico’s training group on Wednesday.

It is asserted that it should not be too long before the on-loan Tottenham man makes his first appearance for the club.

Mundo add that Atletico are hopeful Reguilon will be able to train with the group by next week but that would depend on how his fitness evolves over the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Reguilon’s injury might have been the reason for the Spaniard not training with his Tottenham teammates during pre-season. It did seem odd that the Spaniard was lumped with the likes of Ndombele and Lo Celso, and asked to train separately.
