Report outlines possible Arsenal part-exchange deal for Spurs-linked Zaniolo

CalcioMercatoWeb have claimed that Arsenal could enter the race for AS Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo, who was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

Corriere dello Sport (22/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) reported last month that Tottenham came ‘very close’ to snapping up Zaniolo.

The report claimed that Roma director Tiago Pinto was keen on ‘closing the deal’ with Antonio Conte’s men but the Friedkin family, who own the Serie A club, allegedly pulled the plug on the transfer at the last minute.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will go back in for the 23-year-old in January or next summer but if CMW’s latest update is to be believed, their North London rivals could test the waters with an offer for the winger.

It is explained that Arsenal are ready to enter into negotiations for Zaniolo and that Roma are not ruling out a possible sale.

The report adds that Jose Mourinho wants to add reinforcements at centre-back and has identified Gabriel Magalhaes as a target.

CMW claim that the Arsenal defender is valued at €40m-€45m (£34.7m-£39m) and if Mikel Arteta’s side are to put his card on the table, a part-exchange deal to bring Zaniolo to the Emirates could be a possibility.

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Paratici and Conte are both big fans of Zaniolo. So, should the 23-year-old become available in January or next summer, I fully expect Spurs to go back in for him. I do not think Tottenham will sit idly and watch Arsenal snap up the 23-year-old.
