Report outlines why Richarlison was ‘crying inconsolably’ after the game

Richarlison was pictured in crutches after Tottenham’s win over Everton and ESPN Brazil have reported that the striker was crying inconsolably.

Richardson went down holding his calf in the 58th minute and the anguish on the striker’s face made it clear that he was not going to be able to continue.

Antonio Conte decided to replace the forward with Yves Bissouma as he changed from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2, and the substitution had a big impact on the game.

The extra body in the middle of the park allowed Spurs more control and and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur the freedom to make forays forward, with the pair combining for the home side’s second goal.

The win meant that Tottenham have now accumulated 23 points in their first ten matches – their best start of the Premier League era (club’s official website).

However, Richarlison’s injury was the one negative to come from the game, with Football.London’s Rob Guest posted a picture of the 25-year-old in crutches after the match.

According to ESPN Brazil, the former Everton man ‘cried a lot in the dressing room’ as he feared that the injury might see him miss the World Cup.

Spurs Web Opinion

Players’ usually tend to know when they have picked up a bad injury, and Richarlison’s reaction suggests that it could be a long-term one.

While we should be able to cope without the Brazilian if Moura and Kulusevski are back, the 25-year-old would be utterly devastated if he is out of the World Cup.
