Report: Paratici was handed larger office and was seen as more dominant than Nuno

The Athletic have revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo was not perceived as being as authoritative or powerful as Fabio Paratici behind the scenes at Tottenham.

The Portuguese coach struggled to impose a style of play during his four months at the helm and, after being on the receiving end of jeers from the home crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, he was relieved of his misery by the North London club on Monday morning.

The Athletic have now detailed the things that went wrong behind the scenes for the former Wolves boss during his short time in North London.

They reveal that Paratici was viewed as the more dominant figure at the club, with the Spurs managing director of football allotted the large office that was used previously by Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino.

It is explained that Nuno was allocated a smaller manager’s office and that his staff would hole up around the table in the coaches’ office, which adjoined Nuno’s own room.

Some at the club allegedly even joked that Paratici would be Nuno’s successor when he left.

Spurs Web Opinion

Paratici does seem like a larger-than-life personality in comparison to the more reserved and soft-spoken Nuno. So, I am not surprised that this was the case at Spurs.

That is certainly not going to be the case with Antonio Conte, who is an enthusiastic and dominating figure, and will certainly have the respect of the players.
