Report: Paulo Fonseca still hoping Spurs call him back this summer

ESPN have reported that Paulo Fonseca is still hoping that Tottenham get back in contact this summer over a potential move to North London.

Tottenham have been without a head coach for around two months, with Jose Mourinho having been sacked in late April.

ESPN have now revealed that Fiorentina, who recently parted ways with Gennaro Gattuso after just 22 days in charge, have approached Fonseca over their vacant position.

Alasdair Gold reported that it was Gattuso who turned Tottenham’s head in their managerial search last week, despite holding talks with Fonseca. However, the Gattuso interest also cooled after fan backlash.

However, Fonseca apparently turned down that particular job as he is holding out hope that Tottenham may come back in for him this summer.

Some reports have indicated that Spurs opted against Fonseca because he wanted to spend the transfer budget on attacking players rather than defenders.

Spurs Web Opinion:

If reports are true, I can only see Spurs returning to Fonseca if he accepts that the bulk of the rebuild budget must go on defence and holding midfield.
