Report: Pep contemplating sabbatical and Man City want Poch to replace him

Manchester City had another dominant season under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola last season by winning all three major domestic trophies on offer.

After a difficult first season in English football, the Spaniard has now won two back-to-back Premier League titles with the Manchester club.

However, according to a report in the Daily Star, the Spaniard is already contemplating his next sabbatical from football as last season has left him shattered.

While Guardiola is not said to be keen on quitting Manchester City this summer, it is claimed that he might leave at the end of next season, particularly if he manages to guide the club to the Champions League trophy.

A source close to Guardiola is quoted as saying, “Pep invests so much emotional energy into his work that it takes it’s a big toll.

“He never stops, but it comes at a cost and leaves him needing a break. It’s inevitable he will have to take a step back.”

It is suggested that in case Guardiola leaves, Mauricio Pochettino would be Manchester City’s number one target to replace him.

The Argentine has been coy on his future with Spurs, but suggestions in the press seem to be that Pochettino will stay at Spurs as Daniel Levy has decided to back him in this summer’s transfer window (The Mirror).

However, if there is any truth to this report then Spurs could have another battle on their hands to hang on to Pochettino next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

The media seems to be hell-bent on ensuring that Pochettino leaves Spurs, whether it be to Real Madrid, Manchester United, Man City, or Juventus.

We at Spurs Web believe that if Levy backs Pochettino this summer, he will stay at the club for the long haul and build a legacy here.
