Report: Pepe’s agent trying to find a ‘solution’ amidst Tottenham’s interest

Mercado Azul have claimed that the agent of Porto winger Pepe is trying to find ‘a solution’ for his client, who is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

On Wednesday, A Bola revealed that Spurs presented an offer of €45m (£38.5m) upfront plus a further €15m (£12.8m) in add-ons for Pepe, which was turned down by Porto.

The publication stated that the Portuguese club had made it clear to Tottenham that they would have to meet the winger’s €75m (£64.2m) release clause to secure his services.

Agent trying to push transfer amid Tottenham links

However, Mercado Azul have now suggested that while the Premier League side’s interest in Pepe is ‘real’, Porto have not received any offers for the versatile wide-man so far.

In fact, it is suggested that it is the 26-year-old’s representative who have been trying to negotiate a move away from Estadio do Dragao.

It is explained that conversations have been held with Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain, neither of whom have any intention of meeting Pepe’s release clause.

The report asserts that the Brazilian’s agent will now meet with the Porto hierarchy to see if he can find a solution.

It could well be that Pepe’s representatives are the ones who leaked the information to the press, perhaps in an attempt to get Porto to offer the winger a new contract.

We will have to wait and see if Tottenham’s interest in the 26-year-old is concrete, particularly since no British sources have carried the story.
