Report: PL boss rejected Spurs because he didn’t want to work with Levy

The Telegraph have reported that Graham Potter snubbed Tottenham’s approach during the summer before the club eventually offered the job to Nuno Espirito Santo.

It took Tottenham 72 days after sacking Jose Mourinho to confirm Nuno as his successor – a record interval for a Premier League club.

Several names were linked with the Spurs hot seat before Nuno’s appointment including Potter but the Brighton boss distanced himself from the job during the summer.

The Telegraph have now revealed that Tottenham did consider the Seagulls boss but he had no interest in taking the job.

It is asserted that Spurs were informed that the 46-year-old did not want to risk his burgeoning reputation by working under Daniel Levy, which is why the club’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, turned to Nuno instead.

According to other reports, Nuno is already fighting to keep his job at Tottenham after the club fell to their third successive loss at the Emirates on Sunday.

It was evident during the summer that Nuno was not Tottenham’s first choice and that the club settled for him since they were unable to get their primary targets.

So, the Portuguese coach always had his work cut out to win over the fans and the club’s hierarchy and his job has now only got even harder after recent results.
