Report: PL club are willing to sell Tottenham target for £50m but have set a deadline

Chelsea are thought to be incredibly keen to get Conor Gallagher off their books, and quickly. The Blues have set a June 30 deadline to sign off on a £50m departure for the midfielder, so they can include the income on their balance sheet for the year.

Tottenham have been linked to Gallagher in the previous two transfer windows, and that speculation is not going away anytime soon.

The academy graduate has stepped up to be Chelsea’s captain for much of this season, and has been one of the few shining lights in Mauricio Pochettino‘s side this term.

Gallagher’s current contract comes to an end next summer, causing his future to remain uncertain. In fact, according to TBRFootball, Chelsea are yet to offer him a new deal, despite discussions over the situation going on for weeks now, and Pochettino making it very clear he doesn’t want Gallagher to be sold.

Journalist Tom Barclay recently claimed that there is a ‘good chance’ Gallagher moves to Tottenham this summer (The Tottenham Way podcast).

Chelsea want to sell Connor Gallagher for £50m

The latest update comes from Standard Sport, with a report claiming the Blues are willing to sell Gallagher, and they want to confirm any potential deal before the end of next month.

It is thought Chelsea are now “ready to sell Gallagher for £50m” in a transfer that would provide them with “pure profit” to help balance the books and enable the signing of new players.

Chelsea “ideally” want to sell “high-value” academy stars like Gallagher before June 30, so that any deals would be included in their 2024-25 accounts.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t mind the idea of us signing Gallagher, but £50m for a player with one year left on his contract is just not a fair valuation at all. He’s a good midfielder, but he’s probably not quite the player we need. I’d rather see us go for Amadou Onana from Everton.
