Report: PL club could cash in on two reported Spurs targets this summer

The Athletic have revealed that Leicester City might be prepared to cash in on two rumoured Tottenham targets, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Maddison is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract with Leicester in June and it has been well-documented over the last few months that the attacking midfielder is on Tottenham’s radar.

90 min reported two weeks ago that amidst interest from the likes of Spurs and Newcastle, the Foxes are trying to tie the England international down to a new contract but have not made any progress in their efforts so far.

Meanwhile, Barnes was also thought to be on Tottenham’s wishlist during the January transfer window (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold) and reports over recent weeks have backed the Lilywhites to reignite their interest in the winger in the summer (Dean Jones – GiveMeSport).

The Athletic have now revealed that neither Barnes nor Maddison appear set to have a long-term future at the King Power Stadium.

It is explained that Leicester need to raise funds in order to rebuild their squad in the summer and that the pair are among the players who could be sold.

The report also asserts that both Maddison and Barnes are certain to leave the club if Brendan Rodgers’ men fail to avoid the drop.

Spurs Web Opinion

Neither Maddison nor Barnes will have any shortage of suitors in the summer, particularly if Leicester go down.

Spurs will have to get into the Champions League to likely have a chance of signing either player.

With Moura and Danjuma on their out of the club in the summer, Barnes would certainly be a useful replacement and the 25-year-old could perhaps offer Son Heung-min some competition for his place in the side.
