Report: PL club could make move for Spurs defender after being dealt transfer blow

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Fulham could make an offer for Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth as they look to strengthen their backline before the window closes.

Foyth has hardly been handed any opportunities since Jose Mourinho arrived at the club and the defender once again watched from the stands on Sunday after failing to make the matchday squad against Newcastle.

Leeds United were previously linked with the Argentina international (TuttoMercatoWeb) but reports indicate that their interest in Foyth has cooled after they secured the services of Robin Koch from Freiburg (Leeds Live).

Ornstein now suggests that another newly-promoted outfit in Fulham could make a late play for the defender’s signature.

The report reveals that Sassuolo defender Marlon’s reported £13 million move to Craven Cottage has now collapsed.

It is asserted that Foyth is one of three options Scott Parker’s side have identified as an alternative, with Watford’s Craig Dawson and Torino’s Gleison Bremer being the other two.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would love to see Foyth being loaned out to a Premier League side so that he can get some games under his belt and prove that he can cope with the physicality of the league. It might be a risky move on Fulham’s part but a loaning the Argentine to Scott Parker’s side is in our interest. Even if Foyth is not in Jose’s plans, we will likely be able to get a much higher fee for him in January or next summer if he has a decent season on loan at Fulham.
