Report: PL club expect Spurs-linked star to leave this summer for £40m

According to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, Brentford now expect Tottenham target David Raya to leave the club and have already begun the process of searching for a replacement.

Of all the names that have been mooted as potential replacements for Hugo Lloris over the last few months, Raya’s has appeared among the most often.

The latest such report came from The Athletic a couple of days ago, which suggested that Spurs are on the lookout for a goalkeeper who is good with the ball at his feet, with the Brentford number one said to be one of the club’s top targets.

This came on the back of an update from 90 min last week, which suggested that the Spaniard is one of four names on Tottenham’s wishlist alongside Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Porto’s Diogo Costa and Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.

Thomas has now taken to social media to reveal that the Bees expect Raya to leave and value the goalkeeper at £40m ahead of the summer transfer window.

The journalist added that Thomas Frank’s men have identified Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, Nantes’ Alban Lafont and Freiburg’s Mark Flekken as potential replacements for the 27-year-old.

Given that Raya does not appear close to extending his contract, Brentford would have no choice but to cash in on him this summer.

However, it remains unclear where the Spaniard would end up as he will likely be near the top of Man Utd and Chelsea’s wishlists as well.
