TuttoMercatoWeb report that Leeds United are the latest club to enter the race for Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga.
Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Monday that Milan are looking to ‘close a deal’ for Tanganga and had begun talks with the player’s entourage.
The journalist claimed the Serie A club plan on entering into negotiations with Spurs over a loan deal with an option to buy once they come to an agreement with the defender.
TMW have now backed up Milan’s interest in Tanganga, stating that the Tottenham academy graduate is Rossoneri’s top defensive target.
However, the report adds that Stefano Pioli’s side face a major stumbling block as Spurs would only be open to a straight loan for the 23-year-old and are not willing to grant an option to buy.
The report adds that the North London club are not convinced by Milan’s offer for the defender as the Italian giants are not willing to accept a straight loan deal.
TMW further add that Milan face competition from Premier League clubs in the form of Newcastle United and Everton for Tanganga’s signature while Leeds are said to have also entered the race for the defender in the ‘last few hours’.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am not surprised that Tanganga is attracting plenty of interest as the 23-year-old has the attributes to evolve into a top defender.
I hope the claim about Spurs preferring a straight loan move is true as I do believe that the defender can be a useful player for us down the line if he gets some top-flight experience out on loan.
