Report: PL club in advanced talks to sign Djed Spence – Contradicts earlier claims

Football Insider have reported that Brentford are now in advanced talks to sign Tottenham right-wing-back, Djed Spence, in the final days of the January transfer window.

The report claims that Brentford want to sign the 22-year-old on a loan-to-buy deal, while Southampton, Crystal Palace and Brighton have all also enquired about Spence.

If Tottenham manage to complete the signing of Pedro Porro before the window slams shut, it is said that Spence has the green light to head out on loan.

However, this latest report from Football Insider directly contradicts a claim made in the Evening Standard earlier today. That report said Spurs had rejected a bid from Brentford because the Lilywhites do not want to include an option to buy in any loan for Spence.

90 min have also reported that six different clubs are currently looking at Spence – Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Southampton, West Ham United, Burnley, and Middlesbrough.

Spurs Web Opinion:

There is zero chance that Spurs let Spence leave with an option to buy. It will be a straight loan to an English club that guarantees he will start every week. Perhaps Brentford could still make a move in the next few days, but it won’t have any hint of a permanent clause.
