Report: PL club name asking price for midfielder amid Tottenham interest

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur would have to pay over £50m to land Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer.

Palhinha has been a revelation since his switch from Sporting Lisbon to Craven Cottage last summer, with his consistent performances in the middle of the park being a key reason why Fulham have outperformed expectations this season.

It was Football Insider who first reported a couple of days ago that the 27-year-old’s displays had caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Spurs.

The publication added that Tottenham were lining up an offer for the Palhinha and could potentially face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for the player’s services.

It was alleged that Fulham are aware of the growing interest in the Portuguese international and are bracing themselves for offers this summer.

The same outlet have now offered an update on Palhinha’s future, stating that the Cottagers have made it clear to interested clubs that the midfielder would not be able to leave on the cheap.

It is alleged that Marco Silva’s men will only consider selling the former Sporting man if they receive offers in excess of £50m this summer.

Even at £50m, I think a deal for Palhinha represents very good value for money as he will significantly strengthen our starting eleven.

I would much rather see Spurs pay extra to sign the Fulham man rather than go after someone like James Ward-Prowse.
