Report: PL club open to selling Spurs-linked star – But will price him among most expensive in world

The Daily Mail have claimed that Aston Villa will listen to offers for rumoured Tottenham target Emiliano Martinez in the summer but they will only sell the goalkeeper for a very high transfer fee.

Tottenham are expected to sign Hugo Lloris’ successor in the summer, with the likes of Everton’s Jordan Pickford (The Sun) and Brentford’s David Raya (Independent) being mooted as targets for the North London club over recent weeks.

It was reported ahead of the January transfer window that Martinez, who won the Golden Glove at the World Cup in Qatar, was also on Spurs’ radar (GiveMeSport).

The Mail have now revealed that the former Arsenal man has made it clear to Villa that he wants to play in the Champions League next season.

So, it is explained that Unai Emery’s men would consider offers for Martinez but since they are under no financial pressure to sell, they expect a large transfer fee for the 30-year-old.

It is asserted that the Villans want the World Cup winner to be one of the world’s most expensive goalkeepers if he is to leave in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Tottenham spending more than £50m on a goalkeeper, which is seemingly what it would take to sign Martinez.

Spurs will probably prioritise Raya, who will have just 12 months left on his contract with Brentford if he does not sign a new deal.
